From Ashes to Light: Healing the Past with Planetary Wisdom

I hear this often from clients: “How do I get over the past?”

It’s a question laced with longing and pain. What does it even mean to “get over it”? To me, it’s not about erasing the past, or pretending it never happened. It’s about healing, so that when you think of what hurt you, it no longer burns. You remember without cringing, without shame. You remember, and you breathe. And you allow yourself to be who you are, because of it and beyond it.

If you are willing to experiment with what I am going to offer, then you are well on your way towards healing. I know this because I have tried it.

Healing is not forgetting. Healing is becoming.

🌑 Step One: Naming What Holds You Back

The first step is simple, though not always easy: notice what it is about your past that you long to release.

Is it shame around an old pattern: an alcoholic past, a broken relationship, a mistake you can’t stop replaying?
Ask yourself: How would letting this go serve me now?
Would it allow me to show up more fully in my work, or be more present with my children, or simply breathe more freely in my own skin?

🌒 Step Two: Asking the Deeper Question

Once you’ve named it, go deeper: What can I learn from this?

Life is a great teacher, and every experience—especially the painful ones—holds lessons. Astrology reminds us that these lessons aren’t random; they’re mirrored in the sky, woven into the dance of planets that nudge, challenge, and shape us.

🌕 The Planets as Teachers

Each planet offers a particular kind of wisdom:

  • The Moon shows us what makes us feel safe, what soothes our hearts, and how we find belonging. A Leo Moon thrives on shining before others, while a Capricorn Moon finds depth in carefully chosen, trusted bonds.

  • Mars teaches us how to fight for what matters, but also how not to burn bridges in the process.

  • Venus whispers about love, harmony, and boundaries, guiding us toward healthier patterns in connection.

Depending on where these planets live in your birth chart—and how they’re currently moving in the sky—they can reveal what lessons you’re learning now, and how to navigate them with more compassion and clarity.

🌘 Moving from Shadow to Light

When we can see our past through this lens, not as a burden, but as a teacher, something shifts. What once felt heavy no longer chains us down. The story loosens, and we begin to step into freedom.

Astrology offers us a map of meaning. It shows us that the painful chapters of our past are not detours, but part of the unfolding journey of the soul. With awareness, we can transform what once held us back into wisdom that lights our way forward.

✨ Your past is not a life sentence, it is an initiation.
